A Closer Look at First Hospital Foundation’s Open Grant Cycle

The Philadelphia-based First Hospital Foundation recently opened up its 2014 grant cycle and is accepting new applications (Read First Hospital Foundation: Philadelphia Grants). There are a few changes in the process this time around, so here are a few things to keep in mind.

FHF Has a New Online Application System

The First Hospital Foundation is no longer accepting hard copy applications by mail, so you’ll have to work with its new online system. There are separate applications for General Operating Support or Program Support, so you’ll have to choose just one. Before jumping right in, check out the Applicant Written Tutorial and Video Tutorial.

FHF’s Primary Focus is on Program Support

FHF primarily supports the development and expansion of programs that address the foundation’s funding priorities. General operating support grants are a bit rarer, but they are made to well-established, financially sound, high-performing organizations that have received funding from the foundation over three or more years, and have met or exceeded program goals. If you’re considering applying for a general operating support grant, you’ll first need to email the staff at info@firsthospitalfdn.org to discuss you needs before applying online.

To refresh your memory, these are FHF’s funding priorities:

  • Improvement of access to health care by the underserved including the uninsured and underinsured
  • Meeting behavioral health needs
  • Promotion of the health and well-being of children and families
  • Education, training and advocacy to improve health care outcomes

The 2014 Grant Cycle Closes on July 31, 2014

The deadline on July 31st is 5:00 pm, so make sure to get your online application submitted before that time.
