The foundation believes that "philanthropy includes not only providing resources, but also connecting leaders across sectors, sharing expertise, and promoting collaboration to help build movements for change around important issues." The foundation funds Arts, Education, Environment and Informed Communities initiatives that are innovative and promote collaboration and community-driven decision making.
Dodge's arts program seeks to "enrich [lives], bring people together, revitalize public spaces, help communities thrive, and inspire learning." It supports a variety of artistic disciplines, which includes music, opera, theater, dance and visual arts. Dodge is particularly interested in organizations that prioritize arts education programming in its schools. The foundation supports organizations that "pursue and demonstrate the highest standards of artistic excellence in the performing and visual arts; enhance the cultural health and richness of New Jersey communities; inspire learning and understanding; and contribute to our state's creative economy." Its arts-related grantmaking averages between $2,000 and $15,000.
