PROFILE: Established in 2012, the StubHub Foundation is the philanthropic extension of the StubHub company. StubHub is an international ticket marketplace that allows fans to buy and sell tickets to entertainment and sporting events, essentially reinventing the ticket resale market in 2000. The StubHub Foundation is a corporate-advised fund of the Silicon Valley Community Foundation. The foundation aims to support “the communities in which we operate and to supporting the fans and stars of the future.” Grantmaking supports at-risk youth, youth sports, youth arts, economic security, English as second language, and out-of-classroom education.

One big foundation priority is its Rising Stars program, which supports arts and sports participation for at-risk youth. This program was launched in early 2013 with an initial $125,000 in support going to arts and sports nonprofits. The foundation often supports nonprofits that are working in the areas of youth development through sports and art. In addition to these causes, StubHub also supports some disaster relief efforts and efforts to improve the health and wellness of its employees and their families and communities. This giving has been channeled through StubHub’s Give-and-Go program, as well as through the StubHub Foundation. Past grantees include Mr. Holland’s Opus foundation, the American Heart Association, the San Francisco Symphony, Dress for Success San Francisco, and Autism Speaks.

Rising Stars grants, for example, range from $25,000 and $100,000, and recipients also receive pro bono resources through fundraising opportunities and employee service projects. Learn more about past foundation giving by browsing the StubHub Pressbox page. The StubHub Foundation often supports organizations in San Mateo and Santa Clara counties of Northern California. However, it is committed to investing in the communities it operates in, which are all across the U.S. and even in Europe.

The StubHub Foundation does not typically accept unsolicited grant applications and reviews applications by invitation only. Direct general inquiries to the StubHub Foundation staff at givingback@stubhub.com.
