OVERVIEW: The Collingwood Foundation supports LGBTQ organizations across the United States.
IP TAKE: It may be challenging for grantseekers to get in touch with this low profile funder.
PROFILE: Established in 1994, this Los Angeles-based nonprofit focuses its grantmaking on LGBT services, medical and health services and research, and legal services. The Collingwood Foundation should not be confused with the Collingwood G&M Hospital Foundation, which is a completely separate entity.
The Collingwood Foundation maintains a low public profile, does not maintain a website and does not employ a formal staff. According to its tax filings, however, the foundation has supported LGBTQ organizations such as the Arcus Foundation, GLAAD (formerly the Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation), and the Gay, Lesbian & Straight Education Network (GLSEN).
Grants amounts typically range from $5,000 to $50,000. Although the Collingwood supports local and community based organizations, its LGBT grants tend to be awarded to larger, national establishments. The Collingwood Foundation does not accept unsolicited grant applications or requests for funding.
