PSEG Foundation

OVERVIEW: PSEG Foundation is a corporate funder that supports sustainable neighborhoods, safety, and STEM education in portions of New Jersey, New York, and Connecticut.

IP TAKE: This funder is more accessible and transparent than many other corporate foundations. Organizations throughout the Tri-State area should get to know this corporate funder for small event-related grant needs.

PROFILE: The PSEG Foundation is the giving entity of its corporate sister, the energy company PSE&G in New Jersey. The foundation builds upon the company’s giving tradition over the past century. The company was first formed in 1903 in Newark and is now one of the ten largest electric companies in the nation. The foundation’s grantmaking areas of interest include sustainable and equitable neighborhoods, safety, and STEM education.

Grants for Community Development, and STEM Education

The foundation supports local nonprofits through its Neighborhood Partners funding program, which includes both sponsorships and event support too. It adheres to the “strategic pillars” of environmental sustainability, social justice, equity and economic empowerment. Sustainable neighborhood grants support public parks, environmental stewardship, environmental protection, climate change, and natural resources. Grants also support financial counseling, job placement, health care resources, and housing stability. The funder also provides capacity building support for nonprofits and small businesses. PSEG supports disaster relief and preparedness organizations to strengthen communities as well.

Past support has gone to Kaboom, Hackensack Riverkeeper, Boys & Girls Club, United Way, the Housing and Community Development Network of New Jersey, and the Nature Conservancy. Funding is focused where PSEG employees live and work, including New Jersey and Long Island service territories and parts of Salem, Burlington, and Gloucester Counties in New Jersey. The funder also supports Albany, New York and Bridgeport and New Haven, Connecticut.
