New York City Funders

New York City is the center of the philanthropic universe, and the spectrum of NYC foundation giving is as diverse as the city’s population, from multi-billion-dollar foundations to small, upstart funders.

Although some large New York City foundations maintain a global reach, other funders focus exclusively or predominately on grantmaking in the city. Further, many of the largest foundations—including the Open Society Foundations and Rockefeller Foundation—invest locally, providing funds to address poverty and support the city’s vibrant arts community.
