PROFILE:  The Sassoon Family Foundation is the philanthropic vehicle of brothers and owners of Coffee Bean & Tea Sunny and Victor Sassoon, as well as their spouses Debbie and Michelle.

The foundation keeps a low profile, but heavily focuses its grantmaking on Los Angeles. Jewish institutions are a particular focus of this foundation’s grantmaking. Victor and Michelle take up residence in Singapore while Sunny and Debbie are based in Los Angeles.

A sampling of grantees includes West Coast Torah Center, Jewish Agency for Israel, Wallis Annenberg Center, Yeshiva University High Schools of LA, Ohev Shalom Congregation, Young Israel of North Beverly Hills, and Private Redemption Foundation, which “provides solutions for people facing poverty.”

In a recent year, the Sassoon foundation gave away a little under $540,000 with most grants under $30,000. The foundation does not accept unsolicited proposals.
