PRBB Foundation: Grants for Girls and Women

OVERVIEW: The PRBB Foundation supports women’s empowerment organizations in the United States and abroad.

IP TAKE: While this funder awards a few grants for general operating expenses, most PRBB grants support specific projects and programs.

PROFILE: Founded in 2006, the PRBB Foundation aims to “empower women to be a positive force in shaping their families, communities and environment.” This small organization located in Bozeman, Montana has a staff of three women and one man. PRBB is also a member of Exponent Philanthropy, Peace and Security Funders Group, and Women’s Funding Network.

The foundation supports grassroots efforts promoting women’s rights and fighting for gender equality around the world, which includes regions where rights violations are among the most egregious.

Grants range from around $5,000 to $15,000. Past grantees include the Darfur Women’s Action, which received funding from PRBB for its support groups in the U.S. for female survivors of sexual violence in Sudan. Similarly, the Maine Women’s Policy Center received support for its work to improve the social, political, and economic status of women and girls in Maine. The PRBB Foundation does not accept unsolicited proposals and instead relies on “a global network of volunteer advisers and partner with renowned international organizations to identify remarkable grassroots organizations worldwide.” The foundation encourages grantseekers to introduce themselves via a “brief email,” if they believe their organization’s work closely aligns with PRBB’s mission.
