OVERVIEW:  Tim Tebow launched the Tim Tebow Foundation, whose mission is to bring faith, hope and love to those needing a brighter day in their darkest hour of need. The foundation focuses on children’s health, including in the Philippines.

BACKGROUND: The son of missionaries, Tim Tebow was born in the Philippines and grew up in Florida. He attended University of Florida, leading the Gators to two national championships, and winning the Heisman Trophy in 2007. Tebow joined the NFL, playing for the Denver Broncos, New York Jets and New England Patriots. Tebow is currently signed to play professional baseball with the New York Mets and is a college football analyst for the SEC Network.

TIM TEBOW FOUNDATION: Tim Tebow launched the Tim Tebow Foundation in 2010. As a teen, Tebow returned to the Philippines and visited a remote village. Through these experiences, he decided to focus on children’s health. The foundation helps build Timmy’s Playrooms in children’s hospitals, provides life-changing surgeries to children from Philippines through the Tebow CURE Hospital, and sponsors Night to Shine, a nationwide prom for people with special needs. It also provides care for orphans and adoption aid grants for families who choose to adopt an international child with special needs. Other grantees have included Bob Tebow Evangelistic Association, his parents’ organization which works in the Philippines; CURE International; The Refinery Christian Church; and Northside Christian Church.

LOOKING FORWARD: Tebow is only in his early 30s and still engaged in the sports world. But expect his work in this grantmaking area to continue.
