OVERVIEW: David Stone moves his philanthropy through the David Stone Charitable Foundation, which gave away around $3.3 million in a recent year. Stone strongly focuses on the arts via his foundation, particularly theater. He is especially involved with Second Stage Theatre in New York.

BACKGROUND: David Stone graduated from University of Pennsylvania. He is a prolific theater producer behind such hits as Wicked, If/Then, and The Diary of Anne Frank.

ARTS & CULTURE: David Stone is on the artistic board of Second Stage Theatre, which he has strongly supported through the years. His foundation recently directed a seven-figure gift to the institution. He has also on the board of the Broadway League and Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS. Other grantees have included Casting Society of America, Theatre Development Fund, Stage Directors and Choreographers Foundation, Eugene O’Neill Theater Center, and Vineyard Arts Project Limited.

OTHER: While Stone primarily focuses on the arts via his foundation he has also supported UJA Federation of New York and Family Equality Council. He also serves on the advisory board of V-Day, an initiative to end violence against women and girls, including transgender women and those who hold fluid identities.
