OVERVIEW: Dick Lippin does not appear to have a formal charitable vehicle but has given strong support to cancer research, driven by deeply personal forces. Philanthropy focuses on Southern California.

BACKGROUND: Dick Lippin graduated from Penn State University and subsequently received a degree from the Institute of Finance in New York. He also attended the MBA program at City University, and law school at Whittier College School of Law in Los Angeles. In 1986, he launched The Lippin Group, a family-owned business that has provided corporate communications, consumer publicity, event promotion and business development counsel to entertainment, media and lifestyle clients in the U.S. and around the world.

ISSUES:

HEALTHCARE: Lippin’s late wife Ronnie passed away after a battle with breast cancer. In her honor, Dick Lippin established Ronnie Lippin Cancer Support and Navigation Program at the USC Norris Comprehensive Cancer Center.

EDUCATION & YOUTH: Lippin also founded ethics programs for undergraduate students at Brandeis University and Penn State University and worked on an online ethics program for young children. The Lippin family also sponsor summer camps for underprivileged children and support other educational and children's projects. It is worth noting that Ronnie was on the board of Free Arts for Abused Children.

L.A. COMMUNITY: Lippin is actively involved as a board member of Zimmer Children’s Museum. He’s also been involved with places like The Paley Center for Media, Los Angeles County Museum of Natural History. He is also founder, Music Center of Los Angeles County and founder, Museum of Contemporary Art and past Chairman, Coro Foundation of Southern California and National Board.

LOOKING FORWARD: It is unclear how much money is waiting in the wings here, but expect Lippin to continue with his established interest areas in his philanthropy.
