PROFILE: The PIMCO Foundation is the philanthropic arm of the Pacific Investment Management Company, a multinational financial company based in Newport Beach, California. The foundation invests in nonprofits around the world, aiming to “empower people to reach their full potential.” Its global grantmaking initiatives are hunger and gender equality. In the U.S. the foundation invests in organizations working in the areas of homelessness and college and career readiness.

PIMCO's college and career readiness program supports "programming that prepares underserved high school youth academically for education beyond high school." One past grantee, New Heights Youth Inc., runs sports-based summer education programs in New York City that help promising students develop skills for academic and personal success. Another New York City grantee, Sponsors for Educational Opportunity, provides high school students with ongoing mentoring and guidance as they apply to and prepare for admittance to competitive colleges.

PIMCO grants generally range from $15,000 to $25,000 and support organizations located in or serving Orange County, California and New York City. A list of past grantees is published in the foundation's annual report. The foundation's online application portal opens each year on April 30, and applications due in June with and award notifications made by the end of October. Guidelines for application are provided in the foundation's college and career readiness RFP, which is posted on its website.

PIMCO accepts applications for funding only through its online portal. Questions about the application process may be directed to Amber Skalsky, at
