This funder supports Greater Boston nonprofits for healthy food accessibility and programs that get youth involved in farming and gardening. It’s also a strong supporter of teacher training in public schools.

The Mascoma Bank Foundation supports arts and culture, education, children and youth, housing, parks and recreation, and human services in New Hampshire and Vermont.

MELVILLE CHARITABLE TRUST

This New England foundation focuses its efforts on homelessness in the state of Connecticut and beyond. Grants are awarded in the areas of health, housing, and income.

JOHN MERCK FUND 

Environmental programs account for a major part of grants from the Merck Fund, including clean energy projects, sustainable food programs and environmental advocacy. Grants are also made for developmental disability research. Merck will close its doors in 2022.

LOIS H. AND CHARLES A. MILLER FOUNDATION

The Lois H. and Charles A. Miller Foundation provides grants to organizations in Bristol, Newport, and Providence in Rhode Island, as well as Baltimore and New York City, in the areas of healthcare, higher education, historic preservation, animal welfare, and the arts.

This is a private family funder that focuses on New England. It awards grants for programs and projects that address Jewish causes, education, medical technology, and the arts.

TUFTS HEALTH PLAN FOUNDATION

This funder is committed to the needs of older adults in Massachusetts, Rhode Island, and New Hampshire. Letters of intent are accepted at select times of the year.

The Washington Trust Charitable Foundation is the charitable foundation of the Washington Trust bank and supports a wide variety of human services, health, education, housing, education, and environmental causes in Rhode Island, Massachusetts, and Connecticut.
