Cape Cod takes a broad approach to grantmaking and covers many topics in its region of focus. Discretionary grants support projects and programs that benefit the region. Community Impact General Grants support emerging opportunities, creative initiatives, and one-time projects with less than $5,000 each. Community Impact Strategic Focus Grants offer over $5,000 and address long-term organizational capacity building. Other grant opportunities are available through the Rogers & Gray Charitable Foundation Grants, Cape Youth Force, the Thomas C. McGowan Fund for Animals, Vito Pini Grants, and the MCV-BCEHO EMS Fund. The Cape Cod Foundation is also home to the GALE (Gay and Lesbian Equity) Fund, the CCYP Giving Circle, the League of Women voters Civic Education Fund, and the Gardening for Food Fund. There are also three town-specific funds held at the foundation: Chatham Fund, Falmouth Fund, and Fund for Sandwich.

Cape Cod Foundation grants range from $1,000 to $10,000. See the online grants database to review past grants by program area and year. Grantmaking is typically restricted to Barnstable County. The foundation uses an online application system for all grant programs and does not accept paper copy submission.

The foundation accepts unsolicited grant requests from local nonprofits. Applicants can find specific deadlines in the funder’s grant guidelines for each program, and they are typically notified with the funder’s decision within three months of a deadline.
