BACKGROUND:  Frank Islam holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees in computer science from the University of Colorado. Islam founded information technology services company QSS Group in 1994, which posted revenues of approximately $300 million before its sale. Islam currently heads the FI Investment Group, a private investment holding company.


EDUCATION: Islam and Driesman's foundation has supported Aligarh Muslim University, located in Aligarh, India, and Marymount University, and Montgomery College, both in the Washington D.C. area. Islam serves on several key boards, including American University in the Emirates and George Mason University School of Management Dean’s Council.

PEACE & CONFLICT RESOLUTION: The couple have supported United States Institute of Peace and Brookings Institution, where Islam is on the Brookings Institution council. The foundation has also funded a fellowship in the US for a mid-career journalist from India. 

ARTS & CULTURE: Driesman’s board memberships include the Shakespeare Theater Company and Arena Stage. The foundation’s recent grantmaking does not appear to focus on arts organizations.
