PROFILE: Becky Pastner joined St. David’s Foundation in May 2006 and serves as the program officer for Healthy Living & Health Policy. Pastner’s St. David’s Foundation profile shares:
Becky manages the Fund’s grants, including investments in medical research, Health Information Technology, and other community health needs. In addition, she will advance the Fund’s knowledge of policy implications through research, reporting, and coalition building.
Becky oversees the funding initiatives of the Healthy Living program area, which promotes healthy lifestyle behaviors for at-risk, low-income populations and supports policy and environmental change to improve access to healthy food and physical activity. She also advances the Foundation's knowledge of health policy across all the Foundation's focus areas through research, reporting and analysis. In addition, Becky manages capacity building initiatives for the Foundation to strengthen grant partner effectiveness.
Becky has been with the Foundation since 2005, previously serving as the Program Officer for Healthy Minds. Prior to her role at the Foundation, Becky worked at the Political Asylum Project of Austin (now American Gateways), Texas Freedom Network, Children’s Hospital Association of Texas, and Office of U.S. Senator Patrick Leahy.
Becky received her BA in Political Science from Haverford College in Pennsylvania, and her MPAff from the LBJ School at the University of Texas at Austin, where she focused on health and social policy and received a certificate in nonprofit management.
In the past, Pastner has prepared report evaluations for community services for pregnant and parenting teens. She has also spoken at the Alliance for Nonprofit Management 2014 Funder Roundtable and the Grant Professionals Association Austin/Central Texas Chapter.
