PROFILE: Christopher L. Lee, is the executive director of the J. L. Bedsole Foundation in Mobile, Alabama, and the best point of contact for nonprofits seeking grants. He has been in this position since September 2005 and shares the following information about his role:
Directs the activities of multi-million-dollar foundation that provides post-secondary educational scholarships, supports health and human services, education, arts, cultural and community development initiatives throughout the counties of Mobile, Baldwin, Washington, Clarke and Monroe in Southwest Alabama. Worked with the Mobile Area Education Foundation, the Mobile County Public School System, the University of South Alabama and business partners to introduce engineering concepts into K-12 education. The initiative is called Engaging Youth in Engineering (EYE). Actively involved in the Live Better Mobile Initiative which works with community organizations and evidence based health care providers to; reduce teen pregnancies, tobacco cessation and encourage people to achieve a healthy weight.
Previously, he was an adjunct faculty member at the University of South Alabama and lectured in the graduate program for public administration. He was also the executive director of administrative services for the City of Mobile, for 11 years. He was a training administrator and chief of aviation planning, programming, and budgeting for the U.S. Coast Guard, as well. Lee was a recipient of the V. Gordon Moulton Service Award.
