Chynna Phillips, Sisters of Charity Foundation of South Carolina

PROFILE:  Chynna Phillips was hired as one of two new project associates in 2016 at the Sisters of Charity Foundation of South Carolina. Her professional bio shares:

As Project Assistant, Chynna is a vital member of the Foundation’s Initiative Team supporting the work of two Initiatives: Immigrant Families and Kinship Care. She conducts research, supports Listening Sessions, and works with Initiative grantees and other stakeholders to advance the Foundation’s vision for families in South Carolina to live out of poverty.

Mrs. Phillips holds a Bachelors of Arts degree in Sociology from Xavier University in Cincinnati, Ohio where she was known for community service and campus involvement. She served in many leadership positions and was awarded both the “Greek Woman/Man of the Year” and “I am Her Image Award”. Prior to joining the Foundation, Mrs. Phillips worked as an Admissions Coordinator at DePaul Cristo Rey High School, interned for the Children’s Defense Fund, and most recently served as a Community Advocate for Palmetto Health Hospital.

Mrs. Phillips is currently pursuing a Masters in Social Work and a Masters in Public Health from the University of South Carolina; through their dual degree program.

Originally from the small island of New Providence or Nassau, Bahamas, Mrs. Phillips attributes her strong sense of community and enjoyment of engaging with others to her island roots. In her spare time Mrs. Phillips can be found reading a good book, watching an interesting documentary, or spending time with her husband and their energetic dog.
