PROFILE: Jon M. Jensen serves as Executive Director, Sustainable Ithaca at the Park Foundation. His foundation bio shares:
Jon has served as Executive Director since 2007, and has managed the Sustainable Ithaca Program since 2014. His previous positions include Senior Program Officer in Environment for the George Gund Foundation, Associate Director of the Pew Conservation Scholars Program, Senior Program Associate of the Pew Charitable Trusts, and Executive Director of the Wildlife Preservation Trust International.
His career in philanthropy includes over 30 years of grantmaking and founding roles in The Funders Network for Smart Growth and Livable Communities, where he also served as chair of the board; the Environmental Grantmakers Association, an organization where he twice served as chair; and as founding chair of Confluence Philanthropy. He has also served on the boards of American Rivers, Institute for Conservation Leadership, Wildlife Preservation Trust International and Yellowstone Ecosystem Studies in addition to numerous advisory councils.
Jon’s academic background includes a BS in Psychobiology from Albright College and an MS in Animal Behavior from Bucknell University. Jon has spoken at national conferences on subjects such as endangered species, nonprofit management, green buildings, smart growth, watershed conservation, philanthropy, nonprofit leadership, journalism, higher education and mission related investing.
