PROFILE: Lydia Saldaña is a program officer at the San Antonio Area Foundation, specializing in community and research grants. The areas of funding that she works in include animal services, arts and culture, children and youth, seniors and community-at-large, medicine and healthcare for community grants. She also is the point of contact for the biomedical research grants, which are focused on cancer, diabetes and heart disease.
“These grants awarded through a competitive process reflect the priorities of the donors who made them possible,” Saldaña said after a recent grant announcement. “Their generosity makes it possible to provide funds for a wide variety of needs in the community. We’re thankful that they trust us to identify critical needs and to select the most qualified programs through the grants process.”
