PROFILE: Since April 2013, Mara Williams Low has been the Sobrato Family Foundation’s program director, and she previously held SFF positions of program officer, community grants & operations manager, community investments associate, and grants administrator. She was named in Silicon Valley’s 40 under 40 for 2015.
According to the San Jose native and current resident’s Silicon Valley Business Journal interview:
Low has established two nonprofit centers, in San Jose and Redwood Shores. She manages an additional 27 tenants and directs all nonprofit center staff and property management functions. The tenants in these combined 226,000 square feet of space run from small shared suites to anchor tenants such as TheatreWorks and its 38,768 square feet of production, rehearsal and administrative space.
She can also be found volunteering 10 to 20 hours each as a board member for the nonprofit East Hills Preschool, which provides high-quality early childhood education to families in the East San Jose area.

Mara Williams Low is the Sobrato Family Foundation’s Program Director, responsible for Nonprofit Center programming, the Nonprofit Sustainability Initiative as well as the operational aspects of the foundation. Prior to her current position, Ms. Williams Low was Program Officer and managed the application and selection process for Nonprofit Center tenants. Before joining SFF in 2006, she served three years as Grants Administrator at The Valley Foundation in Los Gatos, and from 1998-2005, was the Associate Director of Adage School of Performing Arts, a dance school and pre-professional company in Milpitas. She also spent years as an Editorial Producer for the San Jose Mercury News. In her free time, Ms. Williams Low teaches contemporary dance. She holds a BA in English from UC Berkeley.
