PROFILE: Marian Brown Sprague has been a project consultant for the Elfenworks Foundation since September 2006. Her duties include program management, writing, and special event planning.
She has also worked as a consultant for envolv.ng, as a freelance writer for ReSurge, a proofreader for Sunset Magazine, and a technical writer for Vasona Technology. Sprague has a BA in psychology and health services from Duke University.

Meet Elfenworks Foundation team member Marian Brown Sprague. A graduate of Duke University, Marian began her nonprofit career with the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts affiliate, Very Special Arts. Over the next decade, she was instrumental in the creation of two Washington, DC-based NGOs: the Foundation for Hospice and Homecare and the Caring Institute. She has also worked for the Heart of America Foundation and Resurge (formerly Interplast), the first organization to provide free reconstructive surgery for medically underserved children worldwide.
Marian is an award-winning author whose work has been published in Chicken Soup for the Soul: Power Moms, Toddler: Real-life Stories of Those Fickle, Irrational, Urgent, Tiny People We Love, the Mercury News, the Palo Alto Weekly, the Santa Clara Weekly, and Who Cares and Caring People magazines. Additionally, she has worked as a proofreader for Sunset Magazine and as a technical writer and editor at various Silicon Valley companies.
Marian brings nearly two dozen years of experience in the nonprofit sector to the Elfenworks Foundation team, where her skills and her passion for promoting positive change are being put to good use. In addition to her responsibilities in operations, Marian heads up the foundation’s awards programs, including the In Harmony with Hope and Elfen Works awards.
