PROFILE: Mark Dressman is a Professor at University of Illinois and Urbana-Champaign, and co-founder of the McCarthey Dressman Education Foundation (with Sarah McCarthey), as well as serving on its Board of Trustees. His bio on the foundation's website states:
Mark Dressman teaches courses in the secondary English education program and graduate courses in literacy studies and qualitative research within the Department of Curriculum and Instruction. His research interests include reconceptualizing the life and literacy histories of struggling adolescent students and the application of social theory in language and literacy research across cultural contexts. He is co-editor of Research in the Teaching of English.
Dressman received his bachelor's degree in English and Psychology at Thomas More College in Kentucky. He also has a master's degree in Curriculum Development from Teachers College at Columbia University and a PhD in Language and Literacy Studies from University of Texas at Austin.
