PROFILE: Maura Marino joined NewSchools Venture Fund in 2008 and since September 2013 has served as the managing director of its DC Schools Fund. As the fund in explains it, in that role she also serves on the board for Charter Board Partners, DC Prep, Ingenuity Prep, and LearnZillion. Her bio on NewSchools Venture Fund continues:
Prior to joining NewSchools, Maura was Program Director and Lead Teacher at East Palo Alto High School, a charter school in Northern California. As Program Director, she coordinated student support services and managed external relations in addition to teaching humanities. Maura served on the steering committee for the Stanford Schools Corporation and was a member of the Stanford School of Education’s Performance Assessment Collaborative. During graduate school, Maura worked on the Network Growth Team at the KIPP Foundation, implementing their “smart growth” strategy.
Maura earned a BA in American Studies from Stanford University, an MA in teaching from Teachers’ College, and an MBA from Harvard University.
