PROFILE: Naiche Parker is the grants manager for the Scherman Foundation in New York City. She has been in this position since July 2015. Prior to this, she pursued a bachelor’s degree in journalism at Hunter College.

Naiche Parker is the newest addition to the Scherman Foundation’s team as its Grants Manager. She recently graduated Magna Cum Laude from Hunter College, where she earned a degree in Media Studies with a concentration in Journalism. Naiche spent her time at the CUNY working for various publications, including The Hunter Word, for which she was a Senior Editor, White House Correspondent, and Red Carpet Correspondent during the 2015 Tribeca Film Festival. Naiche also worked as a reporter for The Hunts Point Express, the Bronx neighborhood’s sole print news source, for which she wrote on hard-hitting social and community issues surrounding Hunts Point. In 2015, she was able to complete her college career a year earlier than the four-year program required after having graduated from high school with her Associate’s Degree in 2012. Prior to joining the Scherman Foundation, Naiche worked various administrative positions and was the founder of a self-made creative business.

She is also author of the book Paper and Bones, published in 2016. The book is an “anthology of poems and tales surrounding magic, romance, and the gothic written and illustrated by Tumblr writer and fantasy aficionado Naiche Lizzette Parker.”
