PROFILE: Shana Penn serves as the Taube Family Foundation’s executive director and leads two other staff members in the U.S. She is also the author of Solidarity's Secret: The Women Who Defeated Communism in Poland, which is the first book to document women's crucial role in the fall of Poland's communist regime.
Penn was awarded Poland’s Commander Cross of the Order of Merit in 2013 for her “contribution to the development of Polish-Jewish dialogue, support of the Museum of the History of Polish Jews, advocacy on behalf of Poland's inclusion in the Visa Waiver Program, and scholarly work on the role of women in the Solidarity movement in Poland.”
