Stephanie Whitlock is the program officer at the Graham Foundation for Advanced Studies in the Fine Arts. Founded in 1956, the foundation provides project-based support to individuals and organizations in architecture and design and is one of the most significant funders in this field in the country. Stephanie oversees the foundation’s grants program and has responsibility for the development and implementation of grantmaking priorities, policies, and procedures and for evaluating funding proposals. Prior to her work in grantmaking, she worked in the arts and cultural sectors, including the Smart Museum of Art and the University of Chicago Press, and she has taught at the University of Chicago, where she completed her Ph.D. in history. Stephanie has served as a speaker on arts funding or as a review panelist for arts awards for numerous organizations, including the City of Chicago, Department of Cultural Affairs and Special Events; the School of the Art Institute, Department of Architecture, Interior Architecture, and Designed Objects; the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, School of Architecture and Urban Planning; the Chicago Artists Coalition; the Society of Architectural Historians; and the Environmental Design Research Association. She is an active member of the philanthropic community, including the Donors Forum in Chicago, where she co-chairs of the Arts and Culture Funders Group, Chicago Women in Philanthropy, and Grantmakers in the Arts.
