PROFILE: Virginia Kelly Judd is the executive director of the Humana Foundation. She joined Humana in 1990.

Judd’s professional bio shares:

As Executive Director of the Humana Foundation—the philanthropic arm of Humana Inc—Ms. Judd is responsible for the company’s charitable contributions and giving programs, which totaled $9.6M in 2015. The Foundation’s priorities focus on healthy behaviors, health education, and access to health support services and resources.

She began her career at Humana in 1990 and soon thereafter became director of Humana’s Romanian Assistance Project. This international health initiative engaged Louisville physician and nurse volunteers in training programs for Romanian medical professionals in the areas of pediatrics, heart surgery, ophthalmology, nursing and women’s health from 1990-2006. The 16-year project received multiple grants from the United States Agency for International Development and the Council on Foundation’s Critical Impact Award for its contributions to the transformation of the Romanian health system following the fall of communism.

Ms. Judd is a past president of the Donors Forum of Kentuckiana and graduate of Leadership Louisville. She currently serves on the board of Maryhurst and the Greater Louisville Project and is a Big Brothers Big Sisters School to Work Mentor. Ms. Judd holds an MA degree in international relations from the Patterson School of Diplomacy at the University of Kentucky and an MA degree in French from Middlebury College.
