PROFILE:  Virginia Lee is the grants analyst and a program officer at the James Graham Brown Foundation. She has been in this role since October 2015 and previously worked as an advisor and programming director at the Owsley Brown II Family Foundation.

Virginia came to the Foundation in late 2015 from the Owsley Brown II Family Foundation where she served as the lead staff and advisor to Christina Lee Brown. She previously had ten years of experience developing, implementing and leading Federal programs in the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, Office of Water and the US EPA Office of Air and Radiation. Virginia currently sits on the boards of the Dendri Fund and the Kentucky Waterways Alliance. She also serves on the executive committee of the Donors Forum of Kentuckiana. Virginia holds a Master of Business Administration from the University of Maryland and a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Virginia.

Lee serves as a basin delegate for the Kentucky Waterways Alliance, and her KWA bio shares the following information about her:

Virginia joined the KWA Board as an at-large delegate in 2013. She has been a leader in planning the fall galas, including the recent successful Bourbon Splash. Virginia brings a strong water protection technical perspective and commitment to Kentucky waterways. Before moving to Louisville, Kentucky, Virginia was a program manager for the WaterSense program at the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) Office of Water. While at the EPA, Virginia also worked on green infrastructure programs, permitting programs and other clean water policy. Prior to her time at EPA she was an Associate at KPMG’s Baltimore investment banking group. Virginia holds B.A. from the University of Virginia in Environmental Science and received her Master of Business Administration from the University of Maryland in marketing and finance.
