Grantmaking involves Jewish community organizations, education, support of Israel and other causes.

BACKGROUND: Joshua Nash graduated from University of Pennsylvania. He was a general partner of Odyssey Partners, L.P., joining the firm in 1988. Nash serves as president of Ulysses Management, L.L.C. and as chairman of the board of AV Homes Inc.

EDUCATION & YOUTH: Nash serves as chair of Birthright Israel Foundation, which has sent more than 400,000 young Jewish adults on free, 10-day educational trips to Israel since 2000. Nash and Beth via their foundation have steadily supported Birthright Israel. The couple has also helped fund KIVUNIM, which "inspires its students to forge a lifelong relationship with Israel and the Jewish People through travels across the world." Other grantees have included Abraham Joshua Heschel School, USC Shoah Foundation, Hunter College Hillel, Yeshiva Darchei Torah, and Penn Hillel. Nash and Beth are both UPenn graduates who've given their school at least $1 million over the years.

COMMUNITY: Grantees have included United States Holocaust Memorial Museum, American Jewish Committee, Jewish Museum, Facing History and Ourselves, Chabad of Greenwich, National Yiddish Theatre-Folksbiene, and UJA Federation of New York.

HEALTH: Nash's father Jack passed away after a long illness. In terms of grantmaking that touches the Jewish community, a component of the family's support includes Jewish health outfits like Upper East Side Hatzolah, and Sharsheret, a Jewish nonprofit that deals with breast cancer.

ISRAEL: Grantees have included American Israel Education Foundation, American Friends of the Israel Museum, PEF Israel Endowment Funds, American Friends of Magen David Adom and Friends of Ir David.

RELIGIOUS: Grantees have included Congregation Or Zarua, Jewish Theological Seminary of America and Stephen Wise Free Synagogue.

LOOKING FORWARD: Nash's parents Helen and the late Jack Nash are also steady supporters of the Jewish community. Expect the same to hold for Josh Nash. For a complete overview of this funder's work, read our Wall Street Profile of Joshua Nash.
