OVERVIEW: Henry Kressel gives through The Bertha and Henry Kressel Family Foundation, with a focus on educational and community organizations in the Jewish community. Kressel's wife Bertha has passed away and he runs the foundation with his two children, one of whom lives in Israel and works at Nefesh B’Nefesh, “a nonprofit organization that promotes, encourages and facilitates Aliyah from the United States, Canada and the United Kingdom.”

BACKGROUND: Henry Kressel graduated from Yeshiva College, received an M.S. from Harvard, and an MBA and a Ph.D. in engineering from the University of Pennsylvania. Kressel was vice president at RCA Laboratories responsible for the worldwide research and development of microelectronics, power electronics, and associated software. He’s a special limited partner of Warburg Pincus, where he’s served as a managing director and senior advisor for the firm’s technology and communications investment activities. 


EDUCATION & YOUTH DEVELOPMENT: Kressel was Yeshiva University’s first alumnus chairman of the board. With his wife, Bertha, Kressel established a chair in economics and research fellowships for outstanding undergraduate students at Yeshiva University. Other grantees include Orot Yehuda, Young Judaea and the Manhattan Jewish Experience.
