PROFILE: With a history that dates back to 2003, the Conservation Foundation of the Gulf Coast (CFGC) is an environmental foundation focused on the lands and waterways of Florida. Passionate residents banded together to form this conservation community, CFGC received national accreditation in 2010, and the group established a five-year plan in 2015. The foundation is based in Osprey, Florida. It aims to “protect the character, natural integrity and biodiversity of the bays, beaches, barrier islands and their watersheds of Florida’s Gulf Coast.” This foundation’s environmental conservation focus centers on protecting bays, beaches, watersheds and barrier islands in Florida.

CFGC is interested in protecting places for plants and animals, clean drinking water, recreation areas to hike and fish, and natural environments for all Florida residents. The foundation partners with donors, government entities and landowners to protect shoreline and water access, natural habitats, and land recreation spaces. It has worked to protect Triangle Ranch, Pine Island Preserve at Matlacha Pass, and Orange Hammock Ranch. The foundation also funds environmental conservation education, hosting free educational programs and events throughout the year.
