OVERVIEW: Brian Young and family conduct their philanthropy through the Young Family Charitable Foundation. Available tax filings reveal that the foundation awarded $4.76 million in grants between 2017 and 2018.

BACKGROUND: Brian D. Young graduated with an A.B. from Harvard College in 1976. He served as a managing director of First Boston Corp., where he was instrumental in building the Mergers and Acquisitions Group. He was a general partner and co-head of the private investment business at Odyssey Partners, L.P., a position he assumed in 1986. Young co-founded Eos Equity Strategies in 1994.

ISSUES:

EDUCATION: Young steadily supports his alma mater, Harvard. Gifts have provided financial aid and endowed a professorship. He also supported a house renewal project.

RELIGIOUS: Grantees include Annual Catholic Appeal and Holy Family Retreat Center.

LOOKING FORWARD: Young is still very much engaged in business, but perhaps more money will move through his foundation in coming years.
