BACKGROUND: Born in St. Louis, George Herbert Walker III graduated from Yale University and received a J.D. from Harvard Law School. His grandfather, George Herbert Walker, was the founder of G. H. Walker & Co., which Walker chaired. He went on to chair Stifel Financial and serve as the United States Ambassador to Hungary. Walker is a first cousin of former president George H. W. Bush. 

ISSUES:

EDUCATION & YOUTH: Walker supports Groton School in Massachusetts, which he attended. Much of his other foundation giving focuses on the St. Louis area. Walker is a longtime supporter of Webster University, home to the George Herbert Walker School of Business & Technology.
