OVERVIEW: Peter Wright conducts his philanthropy through the Wright Foundation. According to available tax filings, the foundation awarded $1.46 million in grants in 2018. Wright is strongly interested in STEM education, and also supports schools with which he has a personal connection. Giving through his foundation has lately focused on a handful of organizations. 

BACKGROUND: Born in New York City, Peter A. Wright graduated with a B.S. in engineering from Cornell University and an MBA in finance from Cornell's Johnson Graduate School of Management. Wright began his career as a financial analyst at I.B.M Corporation, where he was involved in the development and control of operating plans. From 1986 through 1990, Wright was President and CEO of SoundView Financial Group, Inc., a broker/dealer in Stamford, Connecticut. He established P.A.W. Partners in 1990. 

ISSUES:

EDUCATION & YOUTH: Wright invests in STEM education. He serves on the board of OFANIM, an Israeli nonprofit that provides STEM enhancement/enrichment education for economically disadvantaged students in Israel. Other grantees include Tau Beta Pi Engineering Honor Society, The Winchendon School, Madison Square Boys & Girls Club, and Connecticut Science Olympiad. He has also supported his alma mater Cornell and made a donation to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation for a postdoctoral program.

OTHER: Wright has made single gifts to Joyful Heart FoundationFlorida Studio Theatre, and West Coast Black Theatre Troupe. He has supported Birthright Israel Foundation.
