Their grantmaking has historically involved education, with California and the northeast receiving the bulk of these sums. The couple has shown an interest in special education and support for those with learning differences.

BACKGROUND: Peter A. Weinberg attended Deerfield Academy and received an undergraduate degree from Claremont McKenna. He also received an MBA from Harvard Business School. Weinberg held a number of senior management positions at Goldman Sachs and was elected partner in 1992. He went on to found Perella Weinberg Partners, an independent advisory and asset management firm, where he is partner.

ISSUES:

EDUCATION & YOUTH: Weinberg, through his family foundation, has made education a priority. Grantees have included Middlebury College,  Columbia University, Smith College Fund, and Claremont McKenna College. On the K-12 front, grantees have included King's Academy in Sunnyvale, California, Harlem Village Academies, and Inner City Scholarship Fund. A component of this philanthropy also involves supporting outfits that assist students with learning differences. To that end, recent grantees include Winston Preparatory School and Cooke Center for Learning and Development. Sums have also gone to outfits such as Boys and Girls Club of Greenwich and Ablilis, which "provides assistance to adults and children with developmental disabilities and their families in lower Fairfield County, Connecticut."

HEALTH: Recent grantees include Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation, Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, and Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center

OTHER: A component of the Weinbergs' philanthropy involves supporting Jewish organizations, such as Temple Sholom. Funds have also recently gone to Central Park Conservancy.

LOOKING FORWARD: Weinberg's philanthropy has been modest and has focused on the regions where he has ties. Expect this to hold.
