PROFILE: Established in 2006, the Escondido Community Foundation (ECF) is a community foundation based in Escondido, California. Community leaders came together to form this foundation to provide for the future of Escondido. ECF is an affiliate of the San Diego Foundation and serves as a way to leverage local leadership, build civic engagement and increase impactful philanthropy. The foundation aims to "build an Escondido community endowment, provide funding annually to Escondido nonprofit organizations and causes and give Escondido community members a vehicle for legacy planning and gifts that will benefit Escondido, now and forever.” It funds local efforts for STEM education, access to the outdoors, arts and culture, community development and emergency needs.

The Escondido Community Foundation supports many different types of local nonprofits in the area. ECF partnered with the City of Escondido to light a 40-foot by 108-foot welcome arch over Grand Avenue at Centre City Parkway in honor of first responders. There is also the “Matt McLaughlin Live Here, Give Here Program” that Matt McLaughlin established as an endowment legacy fund to assist the North County region. Past interests of ECF include expanding access to the arts, baseball field renovations, park restoration, playgrounds, music festivals and tutoring programs.

Grants range between about $1,000 and $40,000.  Learn more about this funder’s local giving in the news section of the San Diego Foundation’s website.
