PROFILE:  Oren J. Massey is the director of education for the Helen Diller Family Foundation and Diller Teen Fellows. He was previously executive director of Edah Community and executive director for the Center for Jewish Living & Learning at the Jewish Federation & Foundation of the East Bay.

Oren Massey was recently hired for the position of the Diller Teen Fellows Education Director. He is an innovative and experienced Jewish educational leader with a diverse skill set and an outstanding ability to connect with people. Born in San Francisco, raised in Cleveland, he spent his formative years in Israel after his family made aliyah when he was 12. Oren is married to Deb Sagan Massey, a Bay Area native, and they have two children, Zev (10) and Ari (7). They live in the East Bay of San Francisco where they are constructing a multi-generational cohousing project for their family.

Oren brings a wide range of both formal and informal teaching experiences including teaching at the Contra Costa and Agnon Hebrew Day Schools, as well as Congregation Shaarey Tikvah, JCC Camp Wise and the Jewish Education Center of Cleveland. He was an Israeli tour guide for Diaspora and Israeli youth and families and previously served as the National Diller Teen Fellows Program Director. More recently, Oren served as the Executive Director of the Center for Jewish Living and Learning at the East Bay Federation. For the past three years he has held the position of Executive Director of Edah, an innovative Hebrew experiential learning program in Berkeley.

Oren’s education and training include a Tour Guide license and a BA in the Land of Israel Studies from Bar Ilan University. In 2000, Oren moved back to the United States and received his Masters in Non-profit Management at Case Western Reserve University and a Masters in Jewish Education at the Siegal College.
