PROFILE: Founded in 2004, the Cleburne County Community Foundation is a regional affiliate of the Arkansas Community Foundation. This funder works with families, individuals, and companies to engage in local philanthropy and award grants. It seeks to “engage people, connect resources, and inspire solutions that build community.” Grantmaking interests are broad and encompass many general charitable services, as well as a science initiative for middle school teachers.

This foundation has a Giving Tree grants program that supports general charitable services in the region. It accepts applications from nonprofits, government agencies, schools, and other groups that serve the county. The application window is in January and February each year.

The Cleburne County Community Foundation also has a Science Initiative for Middle Schools program that supports public middle school science teachers who teach grades five through eight. These grants support purchasing consumable science materials, and the funder accepts applications between July and October.

Giving Tree grants typically range from $300 to $3,000 in size, and middle school science grants are for $500 each. The foundation does not have an online grants database, but it does publish information about past grants on its website. Overall, the funder gives out over $20,000 in Giving Tree grants each cycle. Past grantees include the Arkansas Dream Center, the Baptist Health Foundation, Community Action Program for Central Arkansas, and the First Apostolic Church of Concord Food Pantry.  Grantmaking is restricted to Cleburne County, Arkansas.
