Lords Foundation

OVERVIEW: The Lord’s Foundation aims to glorify God by serving those with spiritual, emotional, or physical needs, in the name of Jesus Christ, His Son.

IP TAKE: A bulk of the foundation’s annual grants go to eight legacy organizations. Still, smaller grants are available.

PROFILE: Established in 2003, the Lord’s Foundation was founded by Jacksonville lawyer and businessman Charlie Towers. The Lord’s Foundation aims to glorify God by serving those with spiritual, emotional, or physical needs, in the name of Jesus Christ, His Son.

The foundation serves to provide funds for those needs that are “specifically mentioned in the book of Matthew, such as feeding the hungry, caring for the sick, helping those in prison, and spreading the Gospel.” Contributions are limited to established 501(c)3 organizations. It typically offers grants for general support. Grantmaking addresses churches and ministries, as well as food banks and other human services organizations.

At least seventy percent of the foundation’s funds must go to eight legacy organizations and no more than ten percent can be given to non-Christian agencies. Most recipients other than the legacies are awarded no more than $1,000 or $2,000. In a recent year, the foundation gave away $282,000. Learn more about this funder’s local giving by examining its recent tax records. Grantmaking primarily focuses on Florida. Past local grantees include First Presbyterian Church, Salvation Army of Jacksonville, United Way of Northwest Florida, Christian Healing Ministries, and Young Life.

Grantseekers can apply for a grant by completing a Grant Application for consideration. Requests must be submitted by July 15th. If approved, checks are sent out in November or December. Questions should be directed to Candice Carver at thelordsfoundation.inc@gmail.com
