North Shore Giving Circle

OVERVIEW: The North Shore Giving Circle is made up of Chicago-area women who combine funds to address the needs of women and girls in Chicago’s northern suburbs.

PROFILE: Established in 2013, the North Shore Giving Circle (NSGC) is a women-focused collective fund affiliated with the Chicago Foundation for Women. NSGC is led by a chair and multiple grantmaking committee members. Each member contributes $2,500 per year and participates in grantmaking decisions and administration. The funding group aims to leverage the power of collective gifts and create meaningful impact to improve local lives. NSGC funds a variety of local efforts that improve the lives of women and girls in Chicago’s northern suburbs.

The North Shore Giving Circle supports efforts that help increase opportunities for women and girls in the region and that empower the next generations of women. The group meets with local leaders to discuss innovations in this field and to addresses how women can become philanthropic leaders. It engages in hands-on and collaborative philanthropy to award its yearly grants. Recent grantees include the Center for Independent Future, Fenix Family Health, North Suburban Legal Aid and the United Way of Lake County.
