PROFILE: Established in 2001, the Rite Aid Foundation (RAF) is a company-sponsored foundation based in Camp Hill, Pennsylvania. This is the grantmaking arm of the Rite Aid Company, which is one of the nation’s leading pharmacy chains and has been in business since 1962. The foundation aims to "improve the health and wellness of our communities through engaging experiences that provide our customers with the best products, services and advice to meet their unique wellness needs.” RAF funds local efforts for children’s health and well-being, community wellness needs and natural disaster relief.

The Rite Aid Foundation is committed to the community that it is headquartered in and also to communities is serves across the country. It often funds Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals by raising and donating money to kids in need. Children are a big part of this heath-focused funder’s strategy, although RAF also supports broader health needs, especially during times of emergency. RAF developed a KidCents program that encourages pharmacy customers to round up their change to donate to approved KidCents charities. Other interests are prescription drug safety education, scholarships for children of fallen or injured service members and fighting racism through RAF’s commitment to racial equity. RAF has a Racial Equity Awareness and Action Initiative that aims to create more diverse and inclusive opportunities. The Rite Aid Corporation makes donations that are in addition to the foundation’s efforts too.
