OVERVIEW: The Alliance for Full Acceptance seeks LBGTQ organizations that support the emotional health and well-being of LGBTQ youth in North Carolina, South Carolina and Georgia.

PROFILE: Founded in Charleston, South Carolina in 1998, the Alliance for Full Acceptance (AFFA) works to “achieve, nurture, and defend equality and full acceptance for lesbian, gay, transgender, and queer people.” This funder works collaboratively with the Freeman Foundation to award small grants to LGBTQ organizations in North Carolina, South Carolina and Georgia. It also administers the Trans Love Fund in conjunction with We Are Family, which makes microgrants to transgender individuals in South Carolina.

Grants for LGBTQ

AFFA’s small grants program supports organizations “addressing the needs of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgener, and queer (LGBTQ+ you.” Funding is limited to organizations serving North Carolina, South Carolina and Georgia, and grantees tend to be small, grassroots or community-based organizations. Grants range from $500 to $4,000. The Alliance accepts applications through its online portal or via mail, with deadlines on January 15, March 15 and August 15 of each year.

The Alliance’s Trans Love Fund provides “microgrants to trans-identified individuals” in South Carolina. Prospective applicants should email the alliance with inquiries.
