Dream Blue Foundation

OVERVIEW: The Dream Blue Foundation’s grantmaking supports global development, global health and refugees from Syria’s civil war.

IP TAKE: This funder makes fewer than 20 grants a year to U.S. and international organizations supporting global development and health. It has also supported organizations that work with Syrian refugees. Given the small number of grants it makes and the fact that it does not accept applications for funding, opportunities and accessibility are limited here. However, reach out with a succinct introduction to determine of your organization is a good fit.

PROFILE: Based in Richardson, Texas, the Dream Blue Foundation was established in 2012 by Blue Telecom Inc., which is also known as BTI Solutions. The foundation seeks to “improve the quality of life of individuals and communities worldwide” through its three stated funding initiatives: education, healthcare and community development. This funder prioritizes underserved populations in developing nations and often works with religious organizations.

Grants for Global Development

The Dream Blue Foundation’s global development grantmaking focuses on education and community development in developing nations. Education grants aim to support basic education for children underserved communities and the development of a future technology workforce. One grantee, HOCEM, a Christian organization, has used funding to establish schools to serve low-income communities in Bangladesh and Pakistan. In Jordan, the foundation has funded the Queen Rania Foundation’s MOOC (Massive Open Online Courses) program for Arab youth. Another grantee, IREX, supports teachers in Tunisia as they incorporate technology into general education programs. Community development grants have prioritized organizations in Israel, Palestine and Syria. One grantee, the Israeli organization Netivya, used funding to renovate a community center in Jerusalem.

Grants for Global Health

Dream Blue’s health grantmaking supports organizations that bring basic healthcare and health services to low-income communities around the world. The foundation has supported the Love Pakistan Trust in its construction of a hospital and health clinic in a rural area of Pakistan near the Thar Desert. In Haiti, the foundation has supported the establishment of a clinic on La Gonave Island that specializes in disease prevention.

Grants for Immigrants and Refugees

The foundation, so far, has limited its grants for immigrants and refugees to projects that support Syrian refugees. The foundation has invested in the establishment of a school for Syrian refugees in Iraq and humanitarian relief efforts in Syria through the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees, the UN’s main refugee relief agency.
