PROFILE: Established in 1994, the Haynes Family Foundation was launched by late real estate mogul G. Arnold and Carol Haynes. Arnold steered Haynes Management Inc, a real estate development and management company based in Wellesley Hills, Massachusetts. The foundation is now run by the family’s children, Melinda, Andrea and Stephen. The foundation lacks transparency and restricts public information about its grant priorities and strategies. Arnold Haynes had a passion for education, reading, art and was involved with organizations like Williston North Hampton School, the Rivers School, Wright Museum, Wavus Camp, and the Castle Preservation Society. His legacy still appears to guide a component of the foundation’s annual grantmaking.

Grants range from $200 to $200,000. In a recent fiscal year, the foundation gave away around $585,000. Past grantees have included Kieve-Wavus Education, “a nonprofit organization that helps people grow through experiential programs led by inspirational role models” ; E. Stanley Wright Museum; Currier Museum of Art; Waynflete School; and First Christian Church.

The foundation keeps a low profile and does not accept unsolicited proposals.
