PROFILE: Established in 1993, the Maurice & Carol Feinberg Family Foundation is the foundation of the late Maurice Feinberg. Feinberg was the former president of New York wine importing business Monsieur Henri Wines, and his wife, Carol,is an avid art collector. Carol steers the foundation alongside other family members, including son David Feinberg, a lawyer and managing partner at Feinberg Hanson in Wellesley, Massachusetts. The foundation does not maintain a website, which limits further information on its priority areas and grantmaking strategies. According to tax filings, the Maurice & Carol Feinberg Family Foundation primarily funds higher education and other educational causes.

Carol Feinberg gave a $1 million gift to her alma mater Connecticut College to support its Posse Scholars program. The gift will provide financial aid to future Posse Scholars through the Carol Jaffa Feinberg ’49 Posse Scholarship fund. David Feinberg received his undergraduate and J.D. degree from Harvard, another important grantee. David and his family established the Maurice Feinberg Undergraduate Scholarship Fund in 2006. They also created a scholarship at Maurice Feinberg’s alma mater, New York University.

Grants range from $500 to $100,000. In a recent fiscal year, the foundation gave away around $387,000. Past grantees include Belmont Hill School, Facing History and Ourselves, Citizen Schools, and New Politics Leadership Academy.

The Maurice & Carol Feinberg Family Foundation keeps a low profile and does not accept unsolicited proposals.
