PROFILE: Established in 1994, the New England Patriots Charitable Foundation (NEPCF) is a sports team foundation based in Foxboro, Massachusetts, which is a suburb of Boston. This the charity of the New England Patriots NFL football team. Robert Kraft created this foundation to support local charitable and philanthropic agencies as part of the team’s commitment to the community. The foundation aims to "support programs that aid the youth and families of the New England region by assisting programs that foster cultural diversity, education, family and health.” NEPCF funds local efforts for youth, education, health and culture.

The New England Patriots Foundation awards direct grants and donates signed memorabilia to charitable causes. Patriots team players also offer direct support by appearing at charity functions. Like many sports team funders, NEPCF focuses most of its attention on the needs of local youth and gives to programs that encourage youth to pursue education, character development and creativity. NEPCF has a Boston Marathon team that earmarks funds for the Myra Kraft Community MVP Awards program. Other interests of NEPCF include social justice, racial equity and emergency relief. Foundation programs are a blood drive, Make-a-Wish for children with live-threatening illnesses, an anti-virus partnership, a women’s association, pro bono legal services, early literacy and other efforts to promote community engagement through sports.

Grants range between about $1,000 and $150,000. The foundation has made over $4 million annually in grants in recent years.
