PROFILE: Established in 1949, the Greater Cedar Rapids Community Foundation (GCRCF) is a community funder based in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Seven community leaders originally created it as a private foundation, and the IRS granted it status as a public organization in 1992. GCRCF administers at least 983 funds today. The foundation aims to "help donors give in meaningful ways, to strengthen nonprofits, and to provide leadership that supports a vibrant community.” It funds local efforts for education, health, human services, arts and culture, environment, and public benefit.

The Greater Cedar Rapids Community Foundation provides innovation, sustainability, and capacity building support across its areas of interest. Program Fund grants support new and existing programs, while Organizational Development Fund grants support capacity building. Other opportunities are through the Endowment Challenge Fund, Linn County Fund, and the President’s Fund. There are several competitive donor-advised funds that are open to nonprofit applications, as well as the Girls with Goals Fund and the Creating Safe, Equitable and Thriving Communities Fund.
