PROFILE: Established in 1958, the Baughman Foundation is an independent foundation based in Liberal, Kansas. The foundation’s major donors are Robert W. Baughman and the John W. Baughman Farms Co. John W. Baughman settled in Seward County, Kansas in 1872 and amassed large landholdings in Kansas and Colorado. He also had interests in cattle, feedlot and oil operations. His son, Robert W. Baughman was president of the family company until his death in 1970. Robert was interested in history and authored various books, including Kansas in Maps and Kansas in Newspapers. The foundation funds local efforts for education, children, youth, the arts, civic affairs, community development and human services.
