PROFILE: Established in 1983, the Topeka Community Foundation (TCF) is a community foundation based in Topeka, Kansas. TCF manages around 400 charitable funds to improve the quality of life in the region. The foundation has goals of “connecting donors with their interests and community needs, increasing charitable giving in our community, providing leadership on key community issues and ensuring stewardship and accountability for effective community investment of donor dollars.” TCF funds local efforts for health, adoption, women and girls and other community needs.

The Topeka Community Foundation awards over $2 million in grants each year to nonprofits and also serves as a community convener on important local issues. Impact Topeka grants address the social determinants of health for local residents. Greater Topeka Fund grants are made through field-of-interest funds and are typically smaller grants of $5,000 or less. The Building Families Fund awards grants to local Christian families interested in adopting a child domestically or internationally. Healthy Lifestyle grants support efforts to improve healthy lifestyles, behaviors, and habits in the broader region. There is also a Women’s Fund at TCF that addresses the needs of local women and children.

Grants range between about $1,000 and $100,000. Learn more about this funder’s local giving by examining its recent tax records. Grantmaking focuses on the city of Topeka and Shawnee County, Kansas.
